Hi, readers. I’m participating in a little event called Project Food Blog, and in the upcoming weeks I’m going need your help. It’s not tedious help-me-move-heavy-furniture-up-four-flights-to-my-new-apartment help. I don’t even live on the fourth floor, so I definitely do not need that kind of help. I need you to vote for me! The more you vote, the better my chances are of making it further in the contest, and the further I make it, the better my chances are of winning. Although I’m posting today, voting does not actually begin until tomorrow, but I will remind you then.
For my part I will be doing weekly posts for the contest for as long as I’m in the running (and maybe even longer if I don’t make it far, just for the fun of it), and hopefully there will be some exciting new posts for you all to enjoy. My first assignment is to tell you why I should be the next food blog star, so I’ve created a list of ten things about me that may or may not convince you of my star power.
10. I used to look like this.
9. I sat through (mostly) dull classes for three years just so I could be bored enough to create a food blog for you to read. How’s that for selfless?

8. I can take some decent food photos without owning a fancy camera. I can take some bad ones, too, but let’s not dwell on the negative.

7. I can make mistakes in the kitchen just like everyone else. See all of these cucumbers? After spending hours and hours slicing them, sterilizing jars, measuring spices, stuffing jars, and sealing jars, I realized that I’d made sweet pickles. I hate sweet pickles. Had I put two and two together while reading the recipe, I probably should have deduced that putting a bunch of sugar in the mix would create sweet pickles, but I make mistakes sometimes. I normally would have told you about my big mistake at the time, but this one kind of stung, which is why it is coming out a year after the fact. Life goes on.
6. I can run 26.2 miles in under five hours.
5. I can take self-timer pictures of myself doing a one-person American Gothic.
4. I can make a fur hat look good. Kind of. Well, yes.
3. I can drive a tractor. In a bikini.
2. I can make an apron.
1. I can cook, and hopefully I can make my cooking thrilling enough for you to enjoy reading about it.

This sounds like so much fun! You know you’d have my vote anyway – even without picture #10! Good luck!
Thanks, Ma.
