I just realized that I’ve been baking a lot of sweets lately. First there were the Mexican chocolate cupcakes, then the pumpkin walnut cookies, and now these world peace cookies. I do a fair amount of baking, but baking this much sweet stuff is pretty out of character. It’s all been for good reasons, though. The cupcakes were an excuse to eat cake on my dad’s birthday, the pumpkin cookies were necessary to use up some of the frosting leftover from making the cupcakes, and these cookies were a simple dessert to top off a dinner that I made for a couple of girlfriends. See? All good reasons.
The art of justification is a something that I learned from my mom. Do I really need this shirt? It would be perfect with those pants that I just got. Should we order dessert? Well, we did do a lot of walking when we were shopping today. Do I need to make another batch of cookies? Guests are coming over, and they have to eat something for dessert. Justifying desserts (or cute clothes) is easy. These cookies are easy, too. They’re also super chocolate-y and intense. You should make a batch.

My friend Shannon happened to be in town last night and sampled a few of the cookies, and I believe they got her cookie blogger stamp of approval. Speaking of cookies and stamps, I am totally envious of her cookie cutter stamp.
And speaking of envious, we saw Arcade Fire play last night.
