I went for a walk yesterday when I didn’t feel like running, and even though the skies were gray and the air was cold – so cold that the insides of my ears started to ache – it made me think about all of the things that I love about this time of year.
Iowa football. Even after realizing during the rainy second quarter on Saturday that my raincoat is not really a raincoat and subsequently sacrificing three hours of feeling in my fingers and toes only to have the Hawks lose, I still love Iowa football. I just have to remind myself that it could always be worse. It could have rained the entire second half. Or the rain could have been freezing rain. Or I could be a Minnesota fan. (The U or the Vikings – take your pick)
Seeing family + almost family
Holiday magazines! I love opening my mailbox each month to find cooking magazines, but I get even happier when they’re holiday themed.
Hot tea. On my walk I kept thinking about coming home to a warm drink, and this minty tea was just what I needed.
Mitten weather. And scarf weather. And hat weather. And puffy vest and wool coat weather.
Snow. As much as I enjoyed being with my family in Evanston last weekend, I wish I could have witnessed the snowstorm in Minneapolis. I’ll have to settle for the slowly melting aftermath.
The lakes. In any season, really.
