Unless I am suddenly inundated with hate mail or other complaints, I’m planning to make Weekend Eats a semi-regular feature around here. We tend to cook a lot over the weekend, and I like sharing the good things that we make. I also like having time to watch Real Housewives and Say Yes to the Dress marathons, though, so don’t be surprised if the photos are quickly snapped with my phone or in bad lighting. Hopefully you will enjoy all of the food and mediocre photos enough to keep coming back at the start of each week.
A long Friday was capped off with a late dinner of Sloppy Joes from The Pioneer Woman. It’s been years since I’ve had a one of these, and they were every bit as good as I remembered.
For dessert: Cocoa Brownies with Browned Butter and Walnuts
Mac and cheese for 12? Sure, why not? Matt found a couple of recipes that we worked off of, and I believe this was the main one. Dumb me was convinced that this recipe would serve less than twelve and that we didn’t need to cut it in half. Dumb me will be eating leftover mac and cheese until Valentine’s Day.
I’ve had a stash of about 15 blood oranges in my fruit drawer for a couple of weeks.
This weekend I juiced about a dozen of them and made Blood Orange Caramels.
I highly, highly recommend these caramels.

YES! The blood orange caramels!!! I loved the ones you gave me last year–might have to try my hand at it myself this time around
How were the brownies? Did they deserve the cover of Bon Appetit?
The brownies were great! They were really fudgy, which is what I look for in a brownie, and they were really easy to throw together.
